We ended up here after a long day of paddling from Moose Lake. I'm wishing we had pushed on another couple of miles, as we found a much better site the next day, and moved all of our stuff. The elevated fire grate is nice, but there is no shade in the main site area/kitchen, and there is only one nice tent pad with some shade. We had to set up our second tent very close to the kitchen. The more northeastern landing is a little awkward, but better than the more westerly one. The western access is nice for collecting water and for swimming, however. When we returned to the site after a hike up Thunder Point, we discovered a woodchuck hiding in the fire grate, not doubt looking for scraps of food. We packed up our stuff and headed to the nicer site north a couple of miles.

Good site. A bit buggy. There were two good landings for the canoes and good spot to cast out a line. I would stay here again

Elevated site. Eastern landing is best. Lots of privacy with little traffic. Fishing was good from the eastern landing. Plenty of firewood if you walk back into the woods or even along the shores.

We were here during the brutal heat wave of 2021. There was a decent amount of shade and a wonderful rock for jumping off and swimming.
Definitely use the landing further to the east though, rather than the one by the big rock.
Pro Tip- Let a large sucker minnow sink to the bottom while you are at camp. About 75-100 yards out. Good method of fishing when the days are hot. Be careful of a massive pine tree as you reel in... it is on the bottom about 25 yards out. We snagged it and reeled it in--who knows how long it is been down there.

Thank God this site was open! I also knew it was supposed to be a nice site. Passed one open site at the beginning of Knife and nothing else open till we got here. Late day with 2 brand new paddlers fighting a pretty decent Northeast wind didn't get to this site till a little after 5. Best landing is around the corner to the East. My son was so cranked up to check the site he went up the more vertical landing with my wife in the canoe with him. I was afraid he was going to dump it and then would have capped an already hard day with a wet wife on what was a very cold day in August. Really nice site once you are up and into it though. Cooking fire grate area is very nice with lots of spots to set things. Not great views of the water from in the site it's a bit closed off but not bad. Probably one of the nicer fire grate cooking areas I've used so far. Used a huge pine for bear hanging back down the slope to the front. Big throw and got the bag way up. Downside with that type of tree though is you can't get it very far out from the tree. Only option I could see though.

My group paddled hard on the first day of their trip, but there were a lot of groups out. Every site on Knife from the West to Thunder were full. Nice enough site. The camp kitchen was fabulous. Not a whole lot of open space, but being so close to thunder point was amazing. We watched the sun set from the top.

Solid campsite with a couple of drawbacks to keep it from above average. There was no way to that I saw to be able to set up a rain fly on/over the fire grate. We set ours up about 10 yards west of the fire grate for a kitchen area.
The second was the lack of hammock options. Most trees were too close together. We were able to set two hammocks up by sharing a common tree about 10 yards west of our kitchen.
There was a really nice white pine that made for a a good food pack hang. There was evidence of others attempts to use it. We put a rock in a stuff sack and found it rather easy to catch a large limb. We could have made it slightly better with a second rope to get the pack farther from the trunk.
Site is well used and available fire wood is very limited but there is a plethora of available downed trees all over Knife.
The landing is further east than you originally think when coming from the west. The western one is a more challenging landing.

We had a great stay at this site. We paddled up from the South and encountered site after site full. Tired from a full day (left Moose that morning) we made a gamble and went around the North side of Thunderhead Point to find this site, and were thrilled with it. Great kitchen area. Good bear tree. Two landings. One nice tent pad away from center camp, and we had two tents closer to the main area.

Elevated kitchen, very nice site. Will need to haul gear up from canoe landing. Use the canoe landing to the east of the front ledge area, very good canoe landing. Camped here on two separate trips. Tent sites are ok. Good swimming out front at the ledge area.

Very nice site with a great front porch. Kitchen and tent sites are well above the lake, so be ready to haul your gear up. Kitchen is OK, but heavily used and fireplace was a bit trashed when I was last there. Great views of the lake in both directions. A bit exposed to a west wind. While camping here one night in the fall of 2008, had the closest and most violent T-Storm I've experienced in the BW.

Good canoe storage, though landing isn't as super easy/smooth it's far better than some. Elevated site, open in the center and north facing. Absolutely would stay here again

Awesome site! Elevated with a nice rock ledge for a good swimming area. We use hammocks and there are plenty of good trees, we hung eight hammocks with out a problem. Stayed here 2 nights.
