I ordered a paddle from Bending Branches at the Midwest Mountaineering Expo. The paddle I have been using is 17 years old. I received it as a gift when I became an Eagle Scout, so I've used it so long partly because of the sentimental value. However, I finally decided that it was time to put it away (maybe on a trophy case or something). My new paddle is a Bending Branches Espresso 14. Midwest didn't have paddles in my size in stock, so I had to special order it. It arrived yesterday - talk about fast service! Here is me with my new paddle. (I am a scoutmaster of a local Boy Scout troop, and we had a meeting last night, hence the uniform.)

That's a nice, light paddle with an unfortunately too-flat grip. I've had two Espresso straights (52"). One broke along the grain line, which was on an angle to the shaft. The other is my 2nd or 3rd favorite. I like to customize the grips. The Espresso with its custom grip is on the far left. Maybe you have a setup like this to honor your old, trusty bent?

I might hang it on the wall in my "BWCA room" or bring it to my office. It would look nice on the window ledge at the office, but I'm afraid the sun will warp it.
