Is the, almost inevitable, late ice out causing anyone to cancel or change their plans?

We've got a May 25th permit and I'm even beginning to question it, as I hear there is still nearly 3 feet of ice on Gunflint area lakes. Hopefully this warm weather is here to stay!

Fishing opener is iffy, but I think you'll be fine by the 25th. It will be cold, but ice should be gone. Lake Vermilion has records going back to 1893, and the latest ice out is May 23rd. The latest Gunflint Lake date is June 3 in 1936; other than that, the latest for Gunflint Lake is May 23.

Just over 30 inches in the Bemidji area (Cass Lake) this weekend.  People still driving out there with.... TRUCKS!  <-- granted, they are a bit crazy as the ice is honeycombed in places.
