This campsite was horrible. There were way too many options for tent pads with even a number of hammock trees spaced adequately. Took away the need to be creative or to be forced to set tents up right next to each other. One wasn’t required to get their feet wet when landing the canoe or dipping their dish sink into the water – which totally takes away from the degree of misery of wet socks expected on a wilderness trip. Another disappointment was that this campsite was off the main traffic area, which as everyone knows, solitude can get tiresome after a while. Who doesn’t enjoy constant visitors stopping by to tell you about their trip and where they are going? Or how long they’ve been out there. The view clearly would not be for everyone, considering the setting sun lit up the landscape brilliantly of an evening across the lake. If I wanted to see happy trees, I'd look at a Bob Ross painting. Latrine was WAY too private, yet didn’t have that long, tedious enough trek one comes to enjoy. Can’t even call it camping if you don’t have to flat out sprint a mile uphill at the last moment when nature calls. So, yes, this campsite lacked much and all visitors to Red Rock Lake would fare better to steer clear of this site, leaving it to others who would prefer to endure these same hardships year after year... And possibly again the year after that.
