I thought this was an amazing campsite. It is up high with a view, but it is still protected by cedars. The tent pads are flat, large, and numerous. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the landing could be better. The best landing is directly in front of the site, but it has a few too many rocks to be easy. There are also a couple of leaning trees that make me nervous.

I though this site was better than the one just upshore, but either would have been welcome after a tough evening paddle. The wind whipped all night and most of the next day after. This site has a steep rocky landing and nice breeze and shade. I would say it's just an average site in many ways.

A rocky canoe landing. Then a climb up some 15 feet or so where there is a nice overlook from the firegrate to the north. Best tent pad is very close to the latrine. Other spots are marginal. Plenty of trees around for shelter and the tarp. Also a nice grove of cedars nearby to hang the hammocks. A small island is just off the site provides some shelter and a measure of privacy from the traffic in/out of Gillis.
