Hi all. Newbie to the forum, and planning first trip to BWCA...actually first paddle adventure ever! I've purchased a few Voyaguer and Fisher maps of the areas were interested in, but I've noticed they all say something along the line of "not intended for navigational use". So is there another map out there that is designed for navigating, or is that statement just a disclaimer to cover their azs? I've not looked at the McKenzie maps yet. Any input is very much appreciated.

Mackenzie day same. Are there inaccuracies? Yes. But these are all anyone uses and no problems I've heard of. I think purely cya.
I always carry Fishers and Mackenzies for the areas I will or might go, in different packs. Once in a while I look at Fishers. In Quetico, I also carry the Chrismar, which is the "official" map for Quetico.

I've used all three. The print registration on Fisher maps is off, to the point where a portage landing could be shown 50+ yards from where it should be. Mackenzie is more accurate but the color scheme is hard to read. I've never gone wrong with Voyageur maps. I imagine the "navigational use" statement is a disclaimer.
