How many people have used the log canal rather than the portage between Conk and Jean. I just learned about it this year. In my notes from last year I noted that there was a lot of water coming out of Conk for such a small lake. Now I know why Jean now drains into Conk not down Jean Creek.

I went through Jean-to-Conk in 2014. That trip, I just paddled through, no portage necessary.
