Depends on what you're after. Both lakes have some pretty fun topwater action; we like to paddle troll little buzzbaits near weeds and get the pike all riled up. Zephyr in particular has a stretch in the middle that's full of mid-20s pike. On a windy day, it's fun to drift around in the east bay and flip softbaits for smallmouth. Swamp Lake (assuming you refer to the real Swamp by Monument Portage and not the last bay of Sag) has a popular seagull rock that folks like to anchor near and slip bobber for walleye. That last, westernmost bay of Sag (with campsite 338, not very swampy at all) has lots of rocky contour that's good for shallow and medium raps. And don't forget about the little portage from Swamp to Plume: It's one of the rare BWCA spots with fairly reliable largemouth! Edited by user Friday, July 5, 2024 11:50:47 AM(UTC)
