How has the fishing been so far this season?
Any big fish?
Taking a group up next week and are excited about getting a line wet.

I've been on two trips - to Bootleg Lake (EP #9) over Memorial Day and Pickerel Lake in the Quetico just this past week. During the two days we fished Bootleg, we must have caught about 200 fish, 6 or 7 different species. Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, rock bass, bluegills, perch, northern pike, and perhaps pumpkinseeds or a hybrid sunfish. It was nonstop action - a fish on just about every cast. I caught a 34-inch northern from the campsite. On my Quetico trip, I caught a 34-inch northern and a 38-inch northern. Fishing was pretty slow otherwise since a cold front had just gone through.

Just got back from a 3 day trek up there--- fishing was really tough with the front's moving through. We fished from Polly to Malberg--- Malberg definitely being the best.
Did lose a walleye to a snapper though..... gone for roughly 30 mintues and all that was left was the head....... Dang things! Best success was Green and Yellow Spinners; Green/Pink Jigs with White or Green Twist Tails.

Walter Eyed Pike,
Thanks for the post. Plan to go in this Friday with a group of 4. Plan to use the spinners you suggested! :)
