Question about Beaverhouse entry
Thanks: 1 times
|
How does the entry at Beaverhouse work? It looks like the parking lot is a fair distance from the put-in. Do you have to portage from the lot to the put-in, or is it a drive-up, put-in, go park kind of thing? Thanks!

You have to portage from the parking lot. The portage isn't bad - well-worn, wide, and fairly flat.

At the Beaverhouse parking lot, there is an unloading area and a parking area. From the unloading area to the put-in, it's roughly a 1/3 mile (100 rod) portage that looks like this the entire way.

Only a part of that trail from parking lot to landing is on Quetico so can use carts or portage wheels for a part. I saw a cart in the woods at parking lot, guessed it was for a first nation guide. Ultimately, it's a very easy walk - former logging railbed - which continues as the portage to Cirrus.
