I've been trying to sneak in another trip before the freeze and I'll be going solo because the fam thinks it'll be too cold. I can only sneak away for 3 nights next weekend and I'm trying to work out a few details. Should I:

1) Basecamp and do daytrips or do a short loop?

2) Avoid bigger lakes b/c of wind potential?

3) Avoid rivers/streams b/c of this summers drought?

That's all I can think of for now. Thanks in advance!

For late-year trips, I would avoid big lakes, especially when solo.

I'm not sure how the river levels are. We have gotten quite a bit of rain recently, and water levels may have risen a bit. Hopefully a resident will chime in.

Basecamp vs short loop is personal preference. When I'm with a group, I prefer basecamping. When I'm solo, though, I prefer loops.
