We added points of interest! This is a new, flexible system that allows you to mark overlooks, pictographs, waterfalls, fishing spots, and more. You can also add notes and warnings. Photos and notes can be added to POIs just like campsites and entry points. Anyone can submit a public POI (subject to approval). Map Enthusiast and higher members can make POIs private, allowing you to keep the fishing spots a secret . Outfitters can create shareable POIs, which are shown when sharing a map link with the unique outfitter ID. The shareable feature will be extended to Expedition Leaders eventually, but we need to make a few changes first to make it possible. To submit a POI, go into Explore mode in the map. Zoom in until you can see the photos (one zoom level after the campsites appear). Click on the "plus" control to add a new POI. Enter a name, select a type, and choose the privacy settings (if applicable). To set the location, press the Set button and drag the marker to the correct location. Finally, press Save. The icon will appear on the map, and the Edit Description screen will pop up. The description is the "official" description of the POI. Descriptions of public POIs must be approved before appearing on the site. Notes do not need to be approved and can be entered by anyone. For new public POIs, and email will be sent to us to review. We will approve it if we think it should be added to the map. If not, we will delete the POI, but we will make every effort to discuss it with you before doing so. Private and shareable POIs are not reviewed and appear on your map as soon as you create them. POIs can be turned off using the Settings, Icons and Legend menu. The current categories are:
- Fishing Spot
- Pictograph
- Overlook
- Waterfall
- Dam
- Note
- Warning
- Point of Interest (anything else)
Let us know if there are any other categories we should consider or icons we should change. Also, as always, let us know if you run into any problems or have any suggestions.
We are working on adding the POIs that we know and linking the associated photos. Help us out by submitting your POIs!

I'm running hog wild with this, as I'm sure Ben is fully aware. :)
