Thanks: 4 times
We have the BWCA permit for middle of August. 2 kayaks EP 25. Plan to paddle to Prairie Portage and pay LaTourell to mechanically portage our boats and gear.
Then, hoping to explore both sides of the border kayaking from hopefully a “Base Camp”.

QUESTION/S:: what part of Basswood is “paddle only”?

It would be great to have a camp farther away from where the motorboats are.
We are open to requesting a RABC as well as requesting camping permits in Canada.

Another QUESTION : does anyone have experience rigging a portage yoke on a kayak and is willing to share details ? ( carrying by the side just doesn’t work for me at 61 years old, but I still am thinking I could portage if rigged up like a canoe )..

I’m new, trying this site up ( currently on free trial bases, but will join no matter what because I want to support the guys involved in this website )

Sincerely, “Mnyoyo” / Julia

You can see the motor areas on the map by going to Settings (in the upper right) and checking the box next to Motor Areas.

The US side to American Point allows motors. I've never seen many on a number of trips from PP to Basswood Falls.

The Canadian side is motor free and other than Bayley Bay.and North Bay, not very populated. I've only poked through that area (Merriam Bay???) once, and paddled from North Bay to Inlet without going through Burke and loved it. Been thinking of a Basswood circumnavigation trip.
