Does anyone have experience with that portage out of the NW corner of Agnes into Reid Lake? It looks like 7 short portages beyond that to get into the S chain. Thanks

Did that chain on Wednesday.  Portage from Agnes to Reid is moderate, with both elevation change and length making it a little tough.  Reid is a nice lake, and the cove for the portage is a very pretty one.  The south portage off the next unnamed lake takes some scouting--paddle through the reeds in the middle lobe to find it.  The portage off the next small pond isn't quite where you think it should be from the map; it's in the southernmost part of the pond.  The next lake that you traverse from northwest to southeast was quite pretty.  When you cut across the corner of the lake right after that angles northwest to southeast, be aware that it was a double portage when we did it--the first short stretch emerges in marshy, brackish water.  Float across that to the second portage; we had to maneuver around a large tree in the middle but it was floatable.  The north part of Silence is a REALLY nice paddle.

Generally, once past Reid, follow the left (eastern) banks to the unnamed lake right before Silence to stay on course.  It was a satisfying route to do--happy paddling!
