Planning a trip from Stanton bay to Russell and back this summer. We’d like to stay on Russell the majority of the time and check out chatterton as well. My question is, is there much opportunity for lake trout in Russell?

I have never heard of Russell being a good trout lake, but I could be wrong. We catch a lot of walleye and bass there The closest one to Russell that I routinely hear about is Antoine. I don't know about Sturgeon - the northern basin is really deep, so I would imagine there would be trout there.

Thanks for the reply. Will definitely check out Antoine! Never would have thought because it’s a smaller lake but I’ll take your word.

Here is a thread from another website that pretty much asks the same question you are. They included a map. Seems Ram just north of Antoine also has lake trout.

McDougall is close to Russell, and that lake has trout, too.
