Thanks: 15 times

Looking to replace old aluminum mess kits.  I've heard good things about stainless.  Also really like the ideas of the sets that have covers that also have built in handles and can be used to eat out of.  I've heard varying things about titanium.  Anyone have some helpful insites?  Thanks.

Stove or campfire or both?

Both - use fire whenever possible, stove as a backup.

I'd go old school aluminum for both. Probably not even hard anodized nor non-stick finishes. I've accumulated pieces individually. A coffee pot from outfitter used stick. A 4 L pot from an online place. A 9" aluminum fry pan from REI but I might go Goodwill next time. The fry pan is non-stick, but mostly stove. I've built this based on menus. I don't like sets because it seems you end up carrying everything, not just what you need. And we like cooking, not just heating water.
