We circumnavigated Fourtown after entering from Boot Lake because my wife was worried that the campsite was going to be ruined by the burn from the previous year. After finding all of the other camp sites taken, we came back around to here. (whew!) It turned out to be a very nice site. The kitchen and tent areas at at the top of a rise, but not too difficult to carry the gear. I found a good spot for a hammock and a tree to hang the food pack (which was almost empty at this point). Then my wife went fishing in the bay, and I cooled off with a swim, where I was visited by many fish and a turtle. The burn area is very close, but it didn't get this campsite, and didn't ruin the view, which is across the bay to the south. The view from the kitchen is top notch. Sadly, the site faces east, so no sunset view, and bright early sun in the morning, even with strategic positioning of the tent behind a bush. It was all for the best, as we got moving before the wind picked up the fetch on the lake, which can be brutal with such a long, narrow lake. Definitely not the best site on Fourtown, but not the worst, either. I'm sad that Fourtown is so busy and people park on campsites for days, but I get it. I can't help but feel that folks are too lazy to even head up Boot or Gun to stay for a night or two, let alone make it to Friday Bay. C'est la vie.
