You don't find many beach sites in the BWCA! It is a heavily used site, and you'll see a lot of traffic from people heading to and from Basswood falls but if it wasn't for that it would be a 5 star site for me.

If there's no wind, this is a great place. It's pretty large, lots of trees with well-used space in between, and has a nice area to explore. It'll easily accommodate up to a 4 canoe / 9 paddler party using this as a base camp, and it's been heavily used. Toilet was fine. It's really a peninsula with spectacular views of the lake on three sides, it has a good fire ring, and several cooking area options. It has a nice landing just off the river route to/from Basswood which is handy, but of course you'll see some traffic. It probably always has a breeze to keep bugs away. But, if you have a stiff wind from the south like we did, or from the north or east, you'll be very exposed and the options to get out of the wind are limited.
