Got this as the last available site, after a very late spontaneous entry. Downed trees covered the best landing, which we cleared and is now actually pretty serviceable as long as you're wetfooting. Tent pads are lumpy at best, nothing great, but there are enough spots for a decent size group. No log seating at the fire grate but a pretty great view. Lots of climbing up and down at this site when getting water and fishing. Latrine is just far enough back in the woods to not be seen by others in camp. This site was initially a 2 but after some improvement and time, it's just barely a 3. If the tent pads were better and it had a spot for a large group tarp (which it doesn't IMO), I'd rate it a 4 for sure.

The landing was doable but not the easiest. There are a few rocks to navigate around. It is a steep climb up to the site. The view up top is nice. The kitchen does not have any seating. The entire campsite is slanted. Reading some of the other reviews, I may have missed some tent pads back in the woods. The tent pads that I saw are small, slanted, rocky, and rooty. There are some great hammock spots, though.

Positive: Great views, solid hammock trees and tent pads, especially if you go west further up. Caught bass and pike from shore.
Negative: A bit of a climb up, but worth it.
This was the only open site on Wood. We had a large group of five girls and three dads and thoroughly enjoyed the space.

2.5 star rating. 6 people. 4 day trip in Sept 2020. Campsite hidden from shore. Located up on a hill from water, great view. There's an area 50 yds from camp SW under big white pines on a big flat rock for another amazing view and boulders to use as steaks if wanting a tent. Mostly caught SM bass, walleye and pike during the evenings around dusk and held them in a holding pool we built till next day for lunch.
Pros:
Windy this trip but was from the NW, behind us so the site was very nice.
A few biting flies but no bugs for the most part Cove directly to the NE provided us with eight, 3 lb big smallies to feed us 2 meals. Top water, and crank bait about 8:00-8:30 in the evening.
Trees for hammocks were fine. A few nooks to set up in.
There are large trees for hanging food bag. No big branches but the 2 rope pulley method works.
Cons:
Entry lake so sees quite a bit of traffic.
1-2 semi level tent pads for smaller tents.
Not very good landing.
Over-run by ground squirrels and mice. Constantly getting in our food pack. Make dead fall traps :)
Fire pit is OK, great view but no big logs for people to sit on.
Whole site is sloped.
Fire wood hunting was not the greatest.
Latrine trail is over grown.
Possibly a very windy site if its blowing in from the water from the SE.
Fishing from shore was not great for us anyway. Lots of snags on underwater trees.
