Based on the descriptions in previous reviews I think people are misidentifiying this site as the large beach site to the south. The photo confirms this as it's not the fire grate at this site. This site, isn't photogenic in the way that the others on this section of Alice are. It's rocky and there are exposed roots. However, it's still a fine site with room for a party of at least six in tents, probably as many in hammocks with a bit of work. If we hadn't been so lucky as to grab a 5* beach I would not have complained one bit about staying here.

Very unique site reminiscent of Presque Isle Bay in the Apostles. Great sand beach but look for beds of needles beneath the pines to keep the grit out of your tent. Several trails take you up and down the shoreline. Very little shelter from winds across the lake but that also helps to keep the bugs at bay. Plenty of mid-day shade from the tall pines. Great kitchen with ample prep space.

Beautiful large sandy beach site which makes for easy access. There are multiple flat tent pads. The problem is that the site is almost completely exposed. Beautiful expansive view across the lake and while there are some large red pines at the back of the site, a west wind can rip through the majority of the site unimpeded. However, there is one small tent pad that is tucked in the woods a bit. There are trails that make it possible to hike to the site on the north side of the peninsula. Site 1169 (on the south side of the peninsula) is no longer maintained.
