Wanted to stay on the East end of Ensign to have day trip options and ended up with this site. The water level was pretty low so the landing was pretty difficult but with normal to high water it would be a great landing. One of the nicer kitchen areas I've had and with the nice rock chairs I didn't even need my camp chair. I noticed 2 really nice tent pads behind the kitchen but could possibly find more farther back behind the site. It did rain a decent amount during our stay so hanging a tarp over the kitchen area was difficult but we were able to make due.

Easy landing with a lot of rocks that are slippery so take care where you step when getting out of your canoe. The fire grate area is very comfortable with a lot of larger rocks to serve as seating/surface for prep. Great spot for a large tarp nearby as there is no shade from trees on the "social" area. The tent pads are separated by raspberry and blueberry bushes... in season this must be a treat. Towards the back close to the toilet there's a good open area among trees for hammocks. Not ideal given the proximity to it, but the best possible if needing to hammock. Beautiful view of the eastern side of the lake with good wind to keep the bugs away and an open sky for star gazing. One of my favorite BWCA campsites so far.

We planned on just stopping for lunch but ended up staying the whole week. Great fishing, great view, easy wet landing (about a foot of shallow water for standing), and overall good site. Only downfall is to have a tarp near the grate, it takes lots of paracord. I used about 300 foot due to where the trees are. Didn't know how good a site we had until a lot of canoers passed by us disgruntled their spot was taken. So the word is out! Some beautiful low foliage that the paths went through back to the other tent pads. Beyond that was the latrine along an easy path. Nice rock to stand on to gather water for dishes, shower, laundry, etc. Crayfish galore for the fishing hooks. Hung the hammock off the point, and was room for one more if you used one of the same trees. Weathered a couple of thunderstorms and didn't have to worry about trees falling in relation to our tent. Not much shade for morning sun - hence the creative tarp rigging. That is probably the only reason I'm not giving the site five stars.
