Boasts 2 landings--primary can go alongside or nose-in with wet foot loading. If it is wind exposed, secondary is nose-in around point. Canoe storage is limited. The average sized clearing is uphill, and is very open. It is dominated by the kitchen and possibly tents. Since fire grate is up from the shore, wind should not be an issue. There is an excellent flat rock attached to the grate for cook work space. Only one log for seating, but there are useful rocks nearby, including natural rock steps that lead to the secondary landing. A tall rock can be used for dishwashing. There are at least 8 tent pads segregated into 3 areas--2 near the main landing, 1 is on trail to other side of peninsula, and the rest are in the clearing. Don't mistake the path past the tent site for the latrine trail. There is a large white pine by the landing for food hanging. Thimbleberry bushes form dense understory along the trails.

Decent campsite, open and roomy, landing is in a swampy area and it's rough getting from landing to the camp area (steep and rocky). Had some of the best fishing of our trip just off the shore here too. Also was very buggy after dark (we were here for one night only and didn't start a campfire either)

Stayed here on the way out due to west Knife being totally packed. Site clearly doesn't see much use but isn't too overgrown. Landing is shallow enough to get out but I don't know if we could have stayed dry. Managed to squeeze 2 hammocks here but I don't think you could fit any more. Exposed fire grate area but got a nice breeze to help keep bugs away, despite the site seeming to be back in the woods a bit. Overall it was passable for a last night but I wouldn't choose to stay here again in the future if possible. We just didn't want to push to Birch to find it full as well.

BIG OPEN AREA. NOT MANY SOLID HAMMOCK OPPORTUNITIES BUT IF YOU WORK AT IT, YOU CAN MAKE DUE. FOR BEING SITUATED RIGHT ON TOP OF A SWAMPY AREA, IT IS SURPRISINGLY LIGHT ON BUG ACTION. IT'S A BIT OF A CLIMB FROM THE CANOE LANDING TO THE KITCHEN AREA, BUT DEFINITELY MANAGEABLE. LOTS OF TURTLES & BEAVERS. ALSO HAS A RESIDENT CHIPMUNK WHO IS NOT AT ALL SHY.

Stumbled into this site late one night after miscalculating my travel time. Actually not bad given how much use it must get. Good landing. Fair kitchen. Plenty of open space and shade. Water in front of camp is very shallow. Best to get water where the Knife river flows into Carp.
