This is a fantastic site. Our group of 9 stayed for 2 nights after the excruciating portages through Vera. The landing is rocky like everywhere else, but is very wide and easily accommodated our 4 canoes. The site is somewhat elevated but the rocks going up are almost cut like steps. Fire pit is nice and open for great views. Saw a beautiful sunrise over Knife Lake one morning. There are ample tent pads with plenty of space to spread out. Counting them is almost pointless because nobody would ever be taking as many tents as this campsite could hold. There is kind of a hidden trail from the clearing in the trees on the left side of the site that goes up to an amazing pad that could easily hold 2 or 3 tents and has a great view of the bay. The landing drops off sharply into deep water. You could swim there but it would be over your head in a hurry. We tried and tried and tried to fish from our bank and caught nothing, but we did catch two pike in the bay across from the Portage Lake portage. The trail to the toilet is longer than average so be cautious at night. Off to the left along the toilet trail is a climb up some rocks that takes you to an overlook. It was nice but too many trees for a clear view of the lake. Highly recommend this site for larger groups looking to spend more than one night.

BEAUTIFUL SPOT JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE LAST PORTAGE INTO KNIFE LAKE. UNBELIEVABLY BUGGY. 1ST AND ONLY TIME WE HAD TO BREAK OUT THE BUG HEAD NETS. BIG OPEN AREA CAPABLE OF ACCOMMODATING A LARGE GROUP. GOOD HAMMOCK OPPORTUNITIES. THE LANDING IS A LITTLE TOUGH, BUT DOABLE.

The campsite seemed small and open. There are only 2 level tent pads. The other 2 good tent pads are back in the woods along a trail. If you are needing to go during the night, it is a long hike from the woods tent pads to the latrine. The landing was OK for one canoe. Any more would be difficult. There was a trail up to an overlook where we were able to take some nice pictures.
