East site on hammerhead peninsula has stony landing whose utility depends on water level. May be able to get next to ledge, or else have to wet-foot load. Canoe storage is adequate between landing and average size rock clearing that offers sun, shade, and breezes. The nearby island in view is in Canada. The kitchen is just up from the landing, and the grate has decent wind protection. There were no logs, only a small rock ledge for meal seating. There are two nice tent rooms off the clearing that could accommodate any size tent. There is some room to pitch more tents in the clearing, but pads are smaller and may be slanted and rocky. A trail to site 1280 wanders along the lakeshore. The fiberglass latrine box was cracked, and needed repair or replacement. Look for the chain embedded in the rock that is evidence of other usage in the past.

I cannot find my notes on this campsite, so I will try my best. It was a very nice campsite. Landing was easy. Great view from the kitchen area with decent seating. Varied trees - cedar, red pine, balsam. Two nice tent pads among the trees with a bed of pine needles. Another is on a rock, so it might be hard to stake it in. Last good tent pad is on some grass, but it appeared to have some rocks strewn about. There is another potential tent pad, but it was rocky and not entirely flat. Overall, very nice site.

Been a year since I stayed here, but I remember it being a breezier campsite (less mosquitoes) as well as having a nice tent pad area. Paths lead to other side of peninsula.
