Only clear areas for tent pads are full of roots and rocks. Fire grate area is nice and overlooks the small bay where the landing is. In the motorized zone so buzzing with motor traffic all day, and motor traffic in Rice Bay to the west can be heard from this campsite. Latrine is up the hill along a path south of the fire grate. A north wind, which would be very unusual, is required to keep the bugs down. Serviceable, rocky landing. Decent water clarity in the little bay to gather water for filtering.
This would be a great campsite if it had a southern or western exposure for the prevailing wind and most of all if it had tent pads that did not have rocks and roots. Sadly, I would not stay here again due to the tent pad situation.

Wow. Where to begin. Campsite 1317 is a gem. A diamond in the rough. An alabaster stone adrift in a forgotten sea. This tucked away paradise hugs the U.S. Canada border, overlooking the magnificent Barley Bay. A ceiling of beautiful Minnesota trees shelter this sacred space, creating plenty of room for activities, tents, friends, and solitude. What more could you ask for? I hope one day you find your own Campsite 1317. Because I sure did.
