I've stayed at over 250 BWCA campsites and this one is in my top 10. Fantastic kitchen set-up, spread out tent sites, great hammock trees and with the low water level we had there was an amazing sand beach. Plenty of room to pull up canoes, go swimming and fish right from camp. Even though it was on an island (that was great to explore by the way) we found plenty of firewood. Only 1 small drawback is that the view from the main area is looking towards the burn out area but this is getting greener every year.

This is one of the best sites on Insula. Firegrate is up against a huge boulder with rocks on both sides for setting things and a nice flat table on on the left side of the grate, plus a bonus flat serving table. Nice big logs in a big rectangle will seat a large group around the fire.
Private cove and sandy beach. Great tarping trees. Great hammock trees down by the water. Numerous tent pads.
Faces West for great sunset views. View of mix of non-burn and burn could be considered a plus or a minus (since there is view of the burn). Sunrise lights up one section of burn that makes the tall pines turn white.

I'm not sure how anyone could give this less than 5 stars. I've been to the BWCA 20 times and this is the best campground I've seen. A gem.

Fantastic island campsite. Elevated grate, room for a cooking fly and numerous tent pads. Great beach and shallow area to swim. Easy to walk shoreline for exploring and fishing.

This is a really nice spot! We saw a moose at this campsite, too. The fire grate looks like something out of Game of Thrones. Several tent pad options, three were decent.
