For us, this campsite was perfect. We were coming in on what was supposed to be a windy weekend - and it was. However, we wouldn't know in this campsite. The site faces east, so we were protected from the strong westerly winds. The landing was decent but not perfect. It was a sloping rock that allowed us to load and unload with relative ease. There is a nice sitting rock to see the sunrise. If you want to see the sunset, you can easily get to the west side of the island. Plenty of tent pads and hammock hangs. It took a while for me to find it, but there is a perfect, large white pine for a bear hang. To find it, go down the latrine trail and keep going past the latrine. The woods are fairly open, so you should be able to find it close to the western shore. If you are approaching the campsite from the northwest, you can see the white pine towering above the other trees in the area. We did not have any luck fishing from shore, but we did spend most of our fishing time at Basswood Falls.

Beautiful! Water was very high so right up to fire area, this site is out of the wind (NW) and really nice. Latrine is a good distance but not too far. Nice rocks and places to explore.

Have stayed here a couple of times. A good spot if you are tackling the river portages, coming or going. Fairly easy landing, depending on water level and wind direction. Not the greatest tent sites, but a decent kitchen and a very nice front porch.

Small tent area, decent kitchen. Wouldn't avoid stopping here, but I wouldn't seek it out either.

Winner winner chicken dinner. This is a dream campsite. Excellent space, and views. Travel to the back porch and you'll find some good fishing - or hang out on the front deck and you'll enjoy a nice large rock to relax on.
