Campsite is on a flat rock. I don't know how you would stake down tents. Wide open. Fairly easy landing on the flat rock, but we had to navigate a few rocks to get there. Will be pretty busy since it is so close to the portage.

The site is situation just left of the long portage out of Basswood Lake. As such you are likely to see a fair amount of traffic in peak season. There are nice views of the upper portions of Basswood. Although not windy on the day visited, I could see this site being pretty breezy with some wind directions. The open-ness does keep the mosquito population down.
The kitchen is just OK, with it being a little under-developed, but good enough and with a nice view. The site has a couple of acceptable tent pads; one could squeeze is 1-2 more in lesser locations. The toilet is a little bit difficult to find, situated well back away from the site and not so easy to find as there is a lot of rock to cross. Canoe landing access is OK but not great, with a sloped rock wall climbing away from the water.

Nice site, although a fair bit of traffic passes by heading to the Basswood Falls portage. Great area to sit at the edge of the water on gently sloping rock. Toilet is a fair distance back into the woods. We had three tents setup without much trouble...a six person, a four person, and a solo. Lots of sun exposure, but overall a good site.

This was on my very first guide trip. We stopped in for a snack before tackling the mile-long portage and couldn't even find the BIFF here. Hmm... This site is open canopied and quite brushy.
