The site was nice and secluded in the cove, it was very protected from the wind which made for stunning views of the glass water in the evening. It was an easy day trip to Lower Basswood Falls and the Crooked Lake pictographs. The bugs were fine early in the season but it was a bit swampy - so I don't imagine that will last. We struggled to find a good tent site because most of the area is rocks or swampy - but overall enjoyed our stay. We saw beavers, loons, ruffed grouse, and a variety of ducks.

The site was very buggy, as it didn't get much wind. It is tucked away from the main route of traffic, and close the Lower Basswood Falls, so it made a decent place to stay over and take a day trip to see the pictographs. Other sites in the area are more scenic. The swimming was okay from the large rock in front.

Decent spot. The site is tucked a bit out of the way, so you don't have to watch/hear the Basswood Lake traffic. The large, flat, rock face is a really great hang-out spot. Good fire ring / cooking areas. But, to the west is a low swampy wet area where the bugs rested up for their next onslaught. And the only tent sites are in the trees and in dead air; I swear bugs called over to the swamp every time we went to or from our tents.

Nice campsite out of the wind. Big rock slope landing that can be tricky loading/unloading. Good trees for hammocking and setting up tarps. If I remember correctly, you could fit 1-2 tents here. Not very many flat spots.
