Great campsite at the top of Lower Basswood Falls. The landing is not great, but everything else is. The "obvious" landing is really steep. The better landing is to the left (south). Once you are able to get out of the canoe, you are greeted by a site with a great view and flat tent pads. There is a giant, flat tent pad behind the kitchen. Other possible tent pads are in the pines by the "obvious" landing. I used this area for my hammock, though. The rock dome in front of the fire grate is awesome for sitting. Trails go along the falls and to the campsite at the other side of LBF.

Nice site on the east side of the falls. Very private site and pretty sheltered from the wind. limited view from the fire grate. Landing is terrible.

Really nice site, and beautiful with the falls. The only downside is there are three giant lightning rod trees in the middle of camp. Not the best in a major storm, but this site was really awesome for us.

Stayed here for two nights.
Biggest drawback are the landings - there's a closer one to camp, right by the falls, with a steep landing.
There's another landing farther south that's easier to load/unload from.
Tent pad area is average. Kitchen has a pretty good view. There's a thieving raven in camp - it is bold enough to steal food if you leave camp for even a few minutes.
Trails lead to the other campsite on the opposite side of the peninsula, and it's possible to portage a canoe from that campsite to this one. Back in the woods there's the remains of a foundation for a structure, complete with bits of a broken wood stove.
Would stay at again.

Nice site with OK tent pads and an OK landing. Once in the inlet, the water has some slight flow but minimal south of the falls in front of the landing. The camp site is above some rock that will need to be climbed and is pretty flat on top for about three tents. Our group had 2 three person tents, 1 two person tent, and 2 solo tents. We were creative placing them, but fit just fine. Please don't go by the pictures by Christopher at this site, they are wrong and is not this site. Water flow picks up to the north of the site and is not a place for the little ones to wander off. Hammock trees with a great view are here but don't look for the whole group to join you as you will only have a few that are good enough to hang on near the edge by the falls. If you are looking for a quite place and solitude this site is not for you. Other canoes will be near and the falls can be a bit noisy. If you are looking for a site to make day trips from to other sites (water falls, pictographs etc.) then this site is for you.

Decent landing, good fire grate area & having LBF at your doorstep......priceless. Can't think of any other BWCA sites with a natural attraction like that.

The falls are very noisy but that may be OK for some. For the size of the site it does not have lots of tent options but does have a great fire area. The water in front of camp is quite turbulent and swimming is not advised. Caught a few pike off the rocks around the camp but not one of the best sites in August. People were obviously fishing for walleye (in the Spring?) here but I visited in August and did not catch any.

Secluded site, landing is to the left of the big rock as you approach the site and a short hike up to the site. Loved being near the falls, hated the mosquitoes. Great fishing below the falls, just follow the trail to the north along the shore.
