Tough landing, but otherwise fantastic site overlooking Lower Basswood Falls across the bay to the east. We got this site at 11:00 AM and decided to call it a day and savor it. Not so close to the falls as to be deafening, but close enough to appreciate the unique opportunity of camping near them.

Steap landing, limited flat tent pads. Cliff top kitchen with incredible views of the falls!

Elevated campsite as described by the other comments. We were the only campers/travelers in the area for the entire 1-1/2 days that we stayed here late September. Looks as though the area is highly used in the summer. Luckily for us, someone left a large stack of dried split firewood because there is little to no firewood near the site. Lots of paths in the woods to explore. The view of the falls is incredible and the site is just far enough away to dampen the sound of the large falls.

A nice campsite that is used quite a bit since it's close to the Falls. You'll need to find fire wood elsewhere. The view is great since you're perched up on a big rock looking toward the falls. Looking at maps it drops to 40 feet pretty quickly. A drawback is that it is a fairly busy area since it's a bottleneck in the BWCA from people traversing between Crooked and Basswood.

We absolutely loved this site. When we were there, the water was pretty low and it was easy to sit on the rock ledges and fish or jump in for a swim. The kitchen had pretty good furniture and is elevated a bit which offered a little breeze to help with the bugs, but the view of the falls is what this site is all about! Canoe landed well around the North part of the peninsula. I also caught a very nice size northern in that spot early morning, in less than 3 feet of water on a shallow swimming hard bait. The small cove to the south has an old log ranger station worth checking out. There are a decent amount of trees, but also enough open space about for gorgeous star gazing. Had to search a while for a good place to hang the pack.

Interesting campsite. You need a short portage from the landing to the kitchen/camp area. Once there you have a fantastic view of the falls. Too high off the water to fish or get water.
