Island site with red pines and short grass lawn. Lots of standing dead wood makes some clearings off the main site unusable. Mostly West-facing views with great swimming hole. Saw a motorboat trolling off camp and heard more.

stopped by this site to check it out. It is a great, open site.
Great pines and open, but shaded area.
A little climb from the landing. but not a big deal.
Only downside is it is close enough to Lac La Croix tow boats that they can be heard in the distance.
It also had some man-made stuff, like a fish cleaning table made of lumber. I personally do not like that in the wilderness

Very well-used site. The main campsite is a large grass area. You can fit maybe three tents there. There is another large area for tents just a little ways down the latrine trail. You could fit an army back there. I found another couple of tent pads down a trail the other direction. There are trails all over the site. The site is exposed, but you can find some shade in various areas. Good view from the kitchen. Finding a hanging tree was a little difficult, but we finally managed. The landing is a small gravel area. It is not perfect, but it wasn't too bad. There is a rock ledge on the north end of the site that dropped off and was good for swimming and fishing. My son caught a 27-inch northern from the ledge. We also had a painted turtle lay her eggs by a tree near the kitchen.

Open site, good tent pads & views, overused (many trees have been cut down), poor tarping & shade
