The blowdown has destroyed the latrine and makes the entire island difficult to travel through, but there are good enough trees for bear hangs. It has a nice common/cooking area but it can get very windy.

I think this site suffered from a blowdown or something. It does not have the charm that is mentioned in the other reviews. It is in a very swampy area. It is grassy and a little overgrown. I wouldn't want to stay here during bug season. The rock shelves in front can be used for a landing.

Nice campsite on an island in Clear Lake. A pair of loons stayed between the island and shore for essentially all of our two-night stay. It was amazing to hear so many different calls. Good fishing from shore. A fair number of paddlers come this way, and some camped illegally on other islands when they could not find a spot. Trees were devastated by pine bark beetles. You can hear them chew at night.

Didn't stay on this site but paddled over to check it out and see if we wanted to move from our other site. Seemed to be overused but it was still nice. We liked the site to the northeast much better.

Lots of hammock space. Nice kitchen area. Bugs were bad and there's no firewood on the island. Still a great spot to set up with kids.

Great site with a great view to the south - looks right at the portage to the S. Kawishiwi River. The fire pit is located well away from the woods with potential for a great breeze. The landing is a little tricky, but nothing too hard. The interior of the site has been cleared out due to heavy use, making it an open and spacious site.
