This was the closest camp site after an epic 280 rod portage from Little Gabbro Lake and 20 rod from Bruin Lake. The site does not have much shade or trees for hanging food. It is elevated from the water. Camp fire area is in the sun. It's basically a big rock with great views of the South Kawishiwi River. Small boat landing area. Great swimming and sunning opportunity.

Decent site overall. Landing is small with a weedy approach. Two tent pads. The one we (four of us) set up on is high on rocks that look over the river. GREAT morning-coffee-sitting spot. That pad is a bit rocky with some tree roots, but flat enough. It was difficult to find good places to drive tent stakes in. We had to use some large rocks instead for two corners. The other tent pad is about 20 ft inland from the previously-mentioned one. More protected & more grass/softer. That served as a good retreat from the sun with our tarp and chairs set up there. We opted for the exposed tent pad due to heavy rain forecast: it looked like the softer pad could get some collecting water. It did somewhat, so we made a good choice in that regard. The kitchen area is pretty exposed to the evening sun, so made cooking dinner a hot job - in more ways than one. I know these comments are a bit negative, but overall we enjoyed it.
