This site is nicely situated in the big pines with the soothing sound of the rapids nearby.

I didn't stay here, but used it to scope out the rapids and decide if I was going to try to float through or take the short portage. I really like the site, but I prefer the quiet of the woods to the sound of water all night. If you like the sound of water then this is an excellent site. I didn't really check out tent pads because I use a hammock, but there were plenty of trees to hang the hammock from and has excellent views of the water.

I did not like this campsite as much as the previous reviewers. It did not have the right ambience for me, I guess. There are two possibilities for landings, neither of them good. The campsite is rocky and rooty. It is high up and has a decent view. The two tent pads are down a short trail to the north.

We stopped for a quick bathroom break. The landing was difficult, but the setting next to the rapids was neat. If you enjoy listening to moving water, this would be a gentle wilderness sound machine to lull you to sleep at night. The tent pads weren't great, but the location was so neat that I would have enjoyed staying there if we weren't there so early in the day.

Decent campsite, but not great. The view out in front of camp is pretty nice, but the site lacks a good canoe landing area and flat tent pads. This is something I was never really concerned about, but after experiencing some sloped tent pads, rocky canoe landings, and rocky and uneven ground throughout camp, I definitely see why other people complain about these things in their reviews. Having the rapids near by was great and very fun to explore! There are also lots of great areas to explore that are very close to camp (i.e. up around the bend of the Kawishiwi River). Caught tons of rock bass and a few walleye right in front of camp in the tail end of the rapids. This site is apparently named "Platypus's Garden."

Good Shaded sight on a slope.
Great swimming with good deep low jumping spot.
trails lead up to the rapids above.
