This site is clearly the victim of a blow down some years ago. There appear to have been two or three large, beautiful trees sheltering the site that are now horizontal, and covering what is probably half the previous tent areas. It's a miracle we were able to find a way to fit our second tent into a spot that was nearly flat. The kitchen area now has shade only in the very late afternoon (which is when we arrived, so that was okay). We were exhausted at the end of the day, so when we discovered the site was available, we started setting up camp without even considering the other nearby sites. I believe the site to the east is much better. Raspberry brambles surrounded the site in almost every direction, including the entire trail to the latrine. The kitchen and tent pads were very grassy and soft, however. The take out for this site is very easy, but the beach to the east is much better for swimming. We saw (recent) bear tracks on the beach, but the only animals to visit our site were a snowshoe hare, a couple of squirrels, and a gorgeous hairy woodpecker who was quite unconcerned about us being 25 feet away getting breakfast and taking down our tent.
