Previous comments are accurate. Tent pad is open to sky but be careful. We arriving in the middle of a massive rainstorm and were able to see all the places the water pooled. If we had arrived just an hour earlier some of our tents would have been in an inch of water.
Lots of evidence of people cutting down dead pine trees just east of the grate. Had great breezes from both north and then south.
Happily stayed two nights and would come back again.

Easier to access from east side, west side has a steep rock face. Agree with what's been said so far. Seating around fire/kitchen is roomy and comfortable. Lots of good hammocking trees. There are a few trees for hanging packs along west shore a ways from camp, though tree was marginal. Good swimming area off the west side of camp.
We went to gather wood halfway between this campsite and the next one on the eastern side and encountered a ground wasp nest. They didn't follow us back to camp though.

Excellent site with access on both sides of peninsula. Plenty of room for tents and good trees for hammocks.

Agree with what's been said. One of the nicest sites in the BWCAW.

This is definitely one of the largest and nicest sites I've ever visited. Good mix of open and breezy with sheltered and shaded. Huge, flat, and soft tent pads. Nice canoe landings on both sides of the peninsula.

Great site! One of my favorites. There are landings on both sides of the peninsula. The northern side is a large, sloping rock (slippery when wet - you could slide all the way into the water). The kitchen has a nice view from on top. The southern side is a cedar forest - very pretty, shaded, and flat. You can fit a lot of tents in the cedar area. There are also two other tent pads up by the kitchen. There is also a small, grassy area by the kitchen. I like grass (rare in the BWCA), so campsites with grass always get a boost from me. The only downside was trying to find a hanging tree - all of the cedars were too low, and the pines were too high. One of my favorite campsites.
