Well, I was on a solo trip which was a bummer! My sister was supposed to come on her second BWCA trip ever, but got sick last minute. Not one to waist a permit, I headed in solo. It wasn't too bad, but I wanted us to stay at this campsite because I knew it was special. It was even open and available this day! It's starkly lacking in mature trees, but it makes up for it by the most incredible boulder collection and a grassy kitchen. Very nice views all around besides.

The STONEHENGE site!
A decent landing leads up to a unique, elevated site that has an oval of huge boulders around camp. Including one gigantic specimen that (from the top) provides awesome views down the river or, across Rice Lake. This site sports a tent pad area with room for 2 tents (maybe 3 smaller ones) however, it is uncomfortably close to the fire grate area. You could probably find a spot for more tents along the trail to latrine. Currently there are precious few mature trees in & around camp, it is a very open site. The largest boulder does, however, provide evening shade across the main camp area. The entire site is up on an elevated rock formation that overlooks a swamp. Point being: while I didn't get to see one; moose sign was very prevalent around the perimeter of camp during my stay.
