I hiked in via the North Arm Trails with a loop past Ole up to Coxey and back out. I ate lunch at this campsite. It's of course not the nicest campsite ever, but there is a nice little rock shelf and the lake is so pleasantly remote. I would seek this site out if I was in the area for that reason alone.

Stayed one night mostly out of desperation for a site as Korb and Silica lake were occupied and we needed to start setting up camp. We started at the Burntside landing earlier in the morning and it was quite a trek to this site.
This site has a fairly steep landing, a 2 star kitchen and dining logs. The view of the lake is hindered by heavy tree cover and the tent pads are lack luster. The very good thing about this site is the seclusion. Last site on a dead end will do that.

Why did the Forest Service choose this spot for the only campsite on the lake? There were many other much better spots for a campsite, but this is the one that you would have to stay at. The landing is rocky and difficult. Depending on water levels, you may have to rock-hop your gear to the campsite. The campsite is very close to the portage, but the lake is secluded and seldom visited, so this is probably not an issue. The kitchen is at the top of a small, rocky hill. The one good tent pad is near the kitchen. You might be able to find a place for two more tents, but they would be rocky and not level. There is great smallmouth bass fishing on the lake.
