We stopped in here for lunch. The tent pads weren't that great, but the camp kitchen and landing were amazing. Also, Gijikiki is an incredible lake. It was amazing to finally make it to this chain. This campsite is also blessed with one of the all-time great overlooks connected to a campsite which bumps it up a point.

Great site on the big island in the middle of Gijikiki. Site faces south-southeast, so sun is plentiful throughout the day if the sky is clear. Nice rock landing for some good shore fishing opportunities. Decent tent pads. We were able to accomodate 2 four-person tents at this site - one next to the firepit and one up the hill off to the left just before the latrine, tucked back in the trees a bit. Great open area for viewing stars on a clear night. Portage into Gijikiki from Ottertrack is pretty intense, but the lake is worth it.

There is an impressive 25' flat rock platform at the shoreline of camp that can be used for a landing area as well as an ideal fishing pier. Very well situated fire grate and log seating right at the edge of the woods. There were several tent pads but, none of them were ideal. There was plenty of downed wood around and trails running to the back side of the island with good views and a perch to watch the sunset. There were a couple of tall dead eyesore jack pine trees in the main camp area but, overall this was a very nice site.

Privacy abounds in this protected cove of innocence, this campsite offers a luxurious shoreline of a raised rock ledge for sunbathing and a leisurely game of travel Scrabble. The firepit was a scruffy affair surrounded by logs for taking a load off and sharing a campfire meal. The latrine is not worthy of mentioning... You may be sure to be the only party camping on this lake as the only other campsite on this lake was a mystery - a search party was conducted but it was never to be found.
The portage from Ottertrack was only the beginning of what was to become treacherous series of unfortunate events. Adventures abounded and the stories have now become legends in there own right. Fools from Chicago capsizing there canoes in straight line winds - who needed saving, a large laborious snapping turtle that could carry a man across a swamp, Moose trails disguised as portages, portages submerged by beaver dams which felt like the descension into Dante's Inferno. Be warned that this series of portages between Ottertrack and Hanson are not for the faint of heart.
The reward though shall be sweet as you are sure to never see another party. The rock cliffs and pristine waters of Gijikiki, Lake of the Clouds, Lunar and Cherry Lakes are some some of the most scenic lakes you shall ever dip your paddle in.

Campsite is nice enough with good fishing from camp and a nice large flat rock near waters edge. What makes the site special is the quietness of the lake. Don't go to bed without laying on the aforementioned flat rock and admiring the night sky over this secluded lake.

Not a lot of level space. We unwittingly pitched our tent next to nest of yellow jackets, though they left us alone. Kind of exposed and the island clearly gets a lot of wind.

Fun island site on a quiet, deep lake.
