We only stopped at this camp site because every single campsite on Ogishkemuncie was already taken. Pros: Solitude—No one has any business on this lake unless they are looking for this site, so you can expect to have the entire lake to yourself. The site can't even see the channel to Eddy Lake, so lots of privacy. Blueberries—lots of them at the site, and on every portage coming and going. Landing—the landing on the back side of the camp site isn't too bad, but the path up to the kitchen and tent area is pretty steep. Swimming—the rocks facing the main part of the lake drop off to deep water pretty quickly. Cons: No useful shade. (See the picture.) The kitchen area and only logical tent pad have no trees over them to offer any protection from the wind or sun. There is another spot with cover that appears to be intended to be a tent pad, but only for a very small tent. Finding a place to hang the food bag was also a challenge. Forget about hammocks, too. The latrine was down a short path into very dense vegetation that somehow didn't offer any protection from the sun. Would we stay at this site again? Sure, as long as we were planning to leave at sunrise after a single night, and all of the sites on the previous lake were full, or the weather was expected to be overcast for 24 hours.

A lack of tent pads is the only thing keeping this site from being a 4. There's no more than one good tent pad and finding a second would be a stretch. Hammocks might fare slightly better for a larger group, though the woods here are dense. The site sits on a small rock point with jack pines and a great camp kitchen overlooking the lake. Solitude and a good vantage point of the lake more than redeem the lack of tent spots.

Slanted rock site
Trail down from latrine would be a river through camp in heavy rain. Secluded from traffic with lots of blueberries
