Landing is easier than the site to the east. It is a short climb to the site. It is a screened view of the lake from the kitchen. The site is fairly small and compact with the tent pads close to the fire grate. There is a lot of traffic going by, but it is not as close as the site to the east.

Stayed here two nights with a group of 7-- very convenient to the Alton portage (and every site on Alton was full). It's pretty nice, and though you can only land one canoe at a time in between the rocks, there's space enough to store 3-4 near the shore. The campsite is maybe 12' above lake level. There are seating-logs around the fire grate, and a big tree that cracked 8' above the ground and fell over, creating an irresistible angled climb for teenage boys.
There is one great pad away from the fire, a smaller one by the latrine trail, and you could fit 2-3 more closer to the fire, but the ground has a 5-10 degree slope there. We had great stargazing (of maybe 1/4 of the sky) from near the lake, and even had a fisher saunter across our campsite one morning when most people were out on the lake.
