Good gravel landing, but somewhat dependent on lake water level. Can load nose-in or alongside. There is a log roller setup for motorboats. There is rock shelf above landing for canoe storage, but east wind exposure may encourage carrying canoes up to clearing. The clearing is huge and includes three rocky peninsulas. The fireplace is well fortified against an east wind. Curiously, there was no log seating, although there were log prospects in the woods that could be moved. However, there are multiple rocky areas overlooking the lake for seating. There are flat rocks available to assist the cook. There are multiple flat areas to pitch many tents. However, some are mostly bedrock making staking difficult. White pines and the open nature of the clearing facilitate food pack hanging and tarp set-up.There is a 10 foot strip of sand and gravel off the south peninsula that is shallow for kid swimming that gradually deepens for adults. There is also a much larger shallow sand beach about 1/4 mile to the north. Not only is this a premier site on Trout Lake, it is one of the nicest sites in all of the BWCAW.

Really nice site with great views. Nice swimming area off the front of the site. Great landing area and plenty of room for tarps and hammocks.

More of a 4.5 star site. Sloped rock landing - you actually have a few options. The site is mostly red pines. The kitchen is protected, but it still has a view. There are a few sitting rock options. It even has a very small sandy area for swimming (very small area, but it is something).
