I enjyo this site. good landing/docks, nice view, a little used... but that is normal for Alpine.

Very nice elevated, airy site on the west portion of the Alpine. The rest of the lake is recovering from the large Cavity lake fire. Vegetation has regrown to 10 feet tall with lots of aspen, birch, and small pine and spruce. This campsite is in a cedar grove that was spared from the fires. Several good spots for tents. Lots of hammock trees. Beautiful spot. At dusk and dawn we had whip-poor-wills and common nighthawks singing!
Note: Prior reviews indicated a nuisance bear here. We experienced no issues with bears during our stay. There is an excellent pine on south side near the water for hanging a food pack.

Amazing views over the lake and decent landing. Lots of space and shade from old trees that survived the fires. Saw definite signs of recent bear activity on the trees but not the bears themselves.

Significant, recurring bear problem summer 2020. This is a good site but until the bear is removed you should avoid this general area. Even if you hang the pack, the bear will do his best to go and get it. Pack strung up high and over water still had multiple claw marks torn in it due to bear's persistence and talent. Yelling at and throwing rocks did not deter bear until a good sized rock when through his legs, at which point it finally decided to depart. Not a bear expert, but this seems to not be a good sign... what next?
Only other comment I'll make is this site has the greatest landing ever, anywhere. It's around to the north side of the site, hidden from view and easily missed. Check it out and see if you agree it's as fabulous as our party of six universally agreed.

Would have rated it a 5 if there were a better landing and swim area. Can see the latrine from the tent area.

4 tent pads, 3 are good 1 is ok. good sized site but no beach for swimming but a couple of good entry points to the water for fishing and for washing. Decent spot on the north side of the site to come in with canoes. GB WAY too close to camp...this is my only major gripe. NO privacy while on GB. Also, firewood is not easily accessible at the campsite. Burn did not seem to affect this site either, which was a bit odd but cool

On a low bluff, room for several tents, trees, nice view. Somewhat small.
