Surrounded by lilly pads and water wasn't appealing so we chose to make a late-day exit instead of camping here as this was the only campsite left on upper and lower pauness.

This site is a hidden gem. We comfortably fit a group of 9 on this site. 2 large tents (4-person domes) and 2 solo tents. No problem. Loved having the bay for easy fishing. Lots of pike. The wind direction certainly affects how much of a breeze you get here but we enjoyed it even without a direct wind sweeping through the site. Very picturesque and loved being in our own secluded area.

The site has a good landing spot near the dam. It is a hilly site the fire pit in a good scenic location near the water. The tent pads are well up hill in the trees. The site has limited quality hammock hang spots due to old trees.
This is a busy lake with campsites nearby in hearing range, so it is not a quiet site.

Nice quaint site. Our stay here in mid-September was perfect. Off-route at the north end of the lake, so you can have some solitude!
This site is probably best-suited for smaller groups during 'shoulder' seasons (spring or fall) due to the tent space and south/east facing exposure.
Site sits on a shallow lilly bay and is protected from winds out of the west, but exposed to south and east winds, which means prevailing winds may not be helpful in blowing bugs or heat away! However, travelers looking to keep warm will appreciate this. Typical moderate sloping bedrock from fire grate to lake.
Both tent pads fit a 4-person, but any bigger might be a 'squeeze'. One tent pad is a bit lumpy and sloped but the other is very comfortable.
Lots of mid-aged White Pines, Balsam Fir, Spruce, some Jack Pine.
