A cool site, with a nice fire grate area and a good short cliff jumping set of rocks on the West side of the island.

I've camped here several times over the years. It is a great site if you don't want a site that allows for fishing from camp. (I am partial to sites where you can catch walleye from camp). Gneiss Lake, in general, is not very good for fish, but Devil's Elbow is not that far away. We had 6 Hammock campers and a person in a tent one year. The landing is good and it stays really shallow a good ways out, so it's a perfect camp if swimming is something you're looking for.

I have been in the BWCA/Quetico 9 times and this is my all time favorite campsite. Maybe it was the beautiful day or the company of my daughter but it was big, open, beautiful, and peaceful with good swimming and views.

A lush green oasis that escaped the ravages of the fires a few years back. Nice canoe landing that also works well for swimming. Well used trails run off in both directions. There is a nice drop off on the SW corner of the island. Great for fishing as well as diving & swimming. Also provides a great vantage point for viewing the sunsets. The only drawback is that the site has lotsa grass & weeds in the camping area. High potential for bug problems.
