This site is massive!!!! One of the biggest sites I've ever stayed at in the Boundary Waters. Everything about this site is open. The fire grate area is large, open, and offers a great view of the lake. Multiple tent pad areas although I chose to hammock camp as there was an abundance of trees to choose from for my hammock. This site sits close to the Owl Lake Portage, however, it's not close enough to where you are bothered by passerby's. The best landing for this site is along the shoreline facing the Owl Lake Portage. One of the negatives is the landing to this site. There isn't a very easily accessible landing that I could find. All in all I would grade this site as a lower four. I personally like this site as it offers immense amounts of fishing possibilities across the shoreline of this campsite.

Update from a 8/19/2022 visit. The better landing is on the east side. The current location for the privy is closer and more exposed than usual. Not a deal breaker, but something to keep in mind when picking tent pads.

Nice large group site with multiple dispersed tent pads and hammock hanging options. Well drained. Extended water access around the point on which the site sits. The landing isn't overly tricky, but not easy. Nice open sunrise and moonrise views. Neighboring sites not visible.

Great view over the lake from this site and can easily host a large group. You can fit two 1-2 man tents on a couple of the pads. Caught plenty of Northerns in the bay behind the site and Lakers trolling between the site and the Island.

Large campsite that covers a good portion of the peninsula. Depending on where you choose to land the rock face shore can be steep and slippery when wet. The fire grate is in a nice location with a nice outlook to the east and plenty of trees to hang a tarp over. There are three distinct tent pads. Unfortunately what I would consider the best one had a large widowmaker looming behind it (we almost missed it but discovered it when we picked it as a candidate for a bear bag hang.) The other two pads are serviceable but not as flat or clear of rocks and roots.

A very difficult canoe landing. No good storage area for canoe if it gets really windy either. Offers a great view as the majority of Tuscarora unfolds out in front of the site. This is a very large site. Thus, nothing is in close proximity to anything else. Several nice tent pads scattered about, you just have to explore a little to find them.
