I echo everything that was already said. This site is narrow and cramped and the noise of nearby Gunflint Lodge pontoons is hard to miss. It's also right next to the public landing. Work to get to the other end of the lake if you can, this one isn't worth much,

It's hard to look a gift horse in the mouth (this site is free, and you don't need a permit). However, this is nothing to write home about. The site has a decent view of Gunflint lake, and provides a place to stay if you're in need. That's about it. The tree coverage is lacking, the site is not very level and rocky, the latrine is a straight line up the hill from the kitchen/grate. If your buddy forgot toilet paper, he can communicate it by hand gestures while seated on the throne. If you're need a place to stay, this will do. If you're seeking a nice site to enjoy the evening, check out other options first.
