The good: Huge site, flat, open with mature pines and the best beach I've seen in Quetico. A great place to spend a rest day and sit on the beach.
The bad: The old MNR Ranger Station buildings have been trashed and there's garbage all over the place. We cleaned up as much as we could (essentially around the fire pit and where we had our tent) and stayed away from the trashy areas. Also a lot of boat traffic.
As for the previously mentioned sign, we didn't see it. There is a sign on one of the buildings, but we assumed that was for the building, not the site, and in either case, it had been obviously ignored for many years.
All that said, we spent a couple of fantastic days here. It would be a perfect spot if somebody with a motor boat would be willing to come and haul away the refuse.

Huge site, level with expansive sandy beach, virgin White and Red pines. In a small bay which provides wind protection from most angles. Site of LaCroix entry point in past years. Has several canadian park buildings which stand open. Has been site of Ojibwa Environmental learning center and camp. Sign says "do not stay", but in several visits I have not had anyone arrive to support that statement.
