Semi-protected, elevated site with obstructed views from the kitchen. There is a good sitting log in the front that provides decent views. 2 landings on either side. The NW side is probably the easier one. The SE landing is tight. Cedars cover almost the entire site. There are no real great spots for tents. The woods are open, so you can find spots, but nothing great. You should find plenty of hammock hangs, though.

Pros: Elevated site with good view to the north. Not in the burn area.
Cons: Very difficult landing - hard to get packs in and out of canoe. Only one good tent spot.
Even after a long day and with almost every other site on the lake taken, we opted to keep looking. If you only have one tent it's a 3 star spot, but we had two and giving this site 2 stars is generous.

Nice site. Not actually in the burn though it is close, which is actually nice as it allows for some really easy firewood access. Site itself is set up from the water with a fairly easy landing to the NW of where the site is listed on this map.
Doesn't have loads of flat tent pads but we squeezed in 3 tents and a hammock (though two of the tents were on a slight incline). Not ideal but it worked. There's a huge rock that sticks out to the E of the site and offers some incredible stargazing.
There are some 'eyes in this lake but all we could find were tiny ones. We found a few in the area between the Winchell portage and the island to the E of the site on the edge of the dropoff there.

Very little sunlight to dry out gear. Plenty of down trees to get firewood. Latrine is up a hill and private. Great rock on the lakefront for morning coffee and reading. 2 landing sites for canoes. NW of site has a steep shortcut to the fire grate or a long path to the latrine that splits to the site. SE landing is very narrow but preferred if you have a smaller canoe. Saw a moose in the water on the way to the Winchell portage.
